Features

The complete Customezo feature list, grouped by what you use it for — product setup, the customer designer, pricing, orders, customer communication and account management.

This page lists everything Customezo does, grouped by what you use it for. Each section links to the article that explains how to use it.

Product setup

Three ways to create a custom product — see Product setup:

  • Import from Shopify — connect an existing Shopify product. Variants, prices and images stay in sync with your store.
  • Start from a template — pick a ready-made product type (t-shirt, mug, poster…) with print areas and mockups already configured.
  • Canvas product — create from a physical sheet size where the whole sheet is printable. No mockup or print-area setup needed; ideal for DTF, transfers and full-canvas prints.

Print Area Designer — the visual setup tool:

  • Unlimited sides per product (Front, Back, sleeves, lid…), each reorderable and individually marked required or optional.
  • Two background modes per side: variant images (a real photo per colorway) or mask + color (one transparent PNG filled with each variant’s color).
  • Product size calibration — enter the real size of the printable face and align a frame over the photo, so print areas are set in exact centimetres or inches and can never exceed the product.
  • Print area shapes: rectangle, ellipse/circle, triangle and diamond. Previews and print files are both trimmed to the shape, so what buyers see is what prints.
  • Free drawing mode — draw an area at any proportions, with the entered size acting as the maximum print size.
  • Per-variant overrides — apply a print area or background to one variant, one color group, all variants, or a hand-picked selection.
  • Copy to all sides, reset, and a live setup checklist that tells you exactly what is still missing before you publish.
  • Live readout of the resulting print file dimensions at your export DPI, plus the design’s offset within the product.

Publishing and sync — see Publishing & sync:

  • Publish a Customezo product to Shopify with its variants and images, or update an existing one.
  • Sync status per product: Synced, Not synced, Drift detected, Shopify deleted, Sync failed.
  • Drift review — when the product changes on Shopify, review and accept added, removed and updated variants.
  • Enable or disable the designer per product; the storefront Design Now button follows automatically.

Design templates

See Design templates:

  • Build templates on a product’s real print areas or on a blank canvas at a chosen physical size (A4, US Letter, DTF adult/youth/toddler, square, postcard, business card and more).
  • Placeholders and rules — decide what shoppers may edit, and lock objects so they cannot be moved, resized or deleted.
  • Attach templates to products so the designer opens pre-loaded instead of blank.
  • Store gallery — let customers browse and apply blank-canvas templates from a Templates panel inside the designer.
  • Customezo library — platform-provided templates you can use alongside your own.
  • Two-level categories and free-form tags for browsing and search; active / archived lifecycle.

See Design Gallery — available on all plans, including Free:

  • Your own library of clipart and backgrounds in PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG.
  • Batch uploads with one category for the whole batch, plus per-file title, type, keywords and license note.
  • Categories with one subcategory level, keyword search, and filters for type, status, Most used and Unused only.
  • Usage counts per image and bulk edit of category, title, keywords and license notes.
  • A Gallery panel in the designer with Clipart and Backgrounds tabs; backgrounds fill the print area and can be removed again.
  • Optional Customezo image library next to your own images.

The customer designer

See The customer designer:

  • Text with Google Fonts plus your own uploaded fonts, sizes, bold/italic, alignment, Line height and letter Spacing sliders, and an Outline that does not change the text size.
  • Readable text by default: new text wraps after a short width, corner resize can scale up to the print area, and text starts larger on phones.
  • Image upload with drag-and-drop, a recent uploads library with search, and per-file validation against your plan and print method.
  • SVG uploads, safety-checked and converted to a high-resolution PNG working copy.
  • Upload from phone — a QR code pairs the customer’s phone with the designer on their computer. See QR codes & phone upload.
  • QR code element for links, text, e-mail, phone, SMS, Wi-Fi and contacts, with color, damage tolerance, transparent background and a minimum print size hint.
  • Gallery panel with your clipart and backgrounds.
  • Shapes, clipart and a color picker with gradients (presets, custom colors, multi-stop gradients with angle control).
  • Full object control: position, size, rotation, opacity, alignment, layer order, duplicate, delete, undo/redo, Ratio locked / unlocked for images and shapes, and a More menu for options that do not fit the toolbar. Rotated objects align inside the print area.
  • Multi-side editing with a side switcher; required sides are enforced before checkout.
  • Live DPI badge and a low-print-quality warning when an image is below the minimum DPI of the print method — configurable to warn or block checkout.
  • Out-of-print-area detection — buyers must move or resize objects that fall outside the printable shape.
  • Variant selection and bulk quantity tables — pick colors and sizes and enter quantities per variant in one screen.
  • Effects and add-ons chosen in the designer and priced through your pricing profile.
  • Bulk discount teaser — shows shoppers the discount they unlock at higher quantities.
  • Show prices in the designer — hide the product price, discounts and totals while keeping extra fees visible.
  • Add-to-cart confirmations — checkboxes and questions customers answer before adding to cart. See Add-to-cart confirmations.
  • Save design / My Designs so shoppers can come back to a draft.
  • Edit from cart — reopen and update a design after it is in the cart. On phones and tablets the designer closes by itself after saving.
  • Mobile-optimized layout with a bottom sheet for tools, and a second tap on selected text to start editing.
  • Fully localized: the designer follows the shopper’s language.

AI tools

See AI tools:

  • Background removal with print-ready edge cleanup, automatic trimming of transparent borders, and a smooth or print-hard edge profile for DTF and underbase printing.
  • Upscale for low-resolution artwork, preserving transparency.
  • Image Editor — background removal by color, region selection and recoloring. Saves render in print quality and use no credits.
  • Vectorize — converts flat graphics to vector shapes for sharp printing at any size.
  • Buyer access — optionally let storefront customers use AI tools; off by default because buyer operations spend your credits.
  • Per-store usage limits on top of platform limits, credit balance, top-up purchases and a usage history.

Pricing and discounts

See Pricing & fees and Bulk discounts:

  • Pricing profiles with customization fees, assigned to any set of products.
  • Side fees in two modes: a number of free sides then a flat fee per extra side, or an exact total fee per side count.
  • Add-on fees and effect fees (for example laser engraving or a rush option).
  • Profile templates to start from — Extra sides, Print shop — or a blank profile.
  • Discount profiles with up to 20 quantity tiers.
  • Discount type: Percentage, Fixed amount off each item or New unit price.
  • Discount scope: Per Product, Entire Cart or Per Variant (older profiles may keep the retired Per Design).
  • Variant targeting — choose which variants get the discount, with variant-specific amounts per tier.
  • A Preview with an example quantity and You save per tier.
  • Option to apply percentage discounts to customization fees as well as product price.
  • Fees and discounts are enforced at checkout through Shopify Functions and Cart Transform, so the totals your customers see in the designer are the totals they pay.

Orders and production

See Orders & print files:

  • One order list for Shopify and Portal orders, with search, tags and status filters.
  • Order detail with every design item, its preview, referenced design files and print files.
  • Design status and production status alongside Shopify’s payment and fulfillment status.
  • Downloads: high-resolution print files, preview images, an Order Summary PDF, item ZIPs and a full order ZIP.
  • Lock / unlock an order or a single line item to freeze designs once production starts.
  • Send an edit link to the customer so they can fix their own design, to their registered address or a custom one, with expiry and revoke.
  • Edit the design yourself from the admin, with automatic re-render of the affected print files.
  • Order tags synced back to Shopify, and the order note synced in both directions with the Shopify order note.
  • Customer confirmations on each design item, with a Verified or Unverified status, also on the Order Summary PDF and manifest.
  • A Proof filter and proof badges in the order list.
  • Files used by paid orders are protected from automatic cleanup.

Print methods — see Print methods:

  • Platform methods (including DTF and laser engraving) plus your own custom methods.
  • Per-method designer constraints: max text objects, max images, max layers, allowed image formats, minimum DPI with warn-or-block behaviour, and an option to disallow gradients.
  • Per-method export settings: PNG and PDF output (no SVG print files), DPI from 72 to 1200, RGB / CMYK (PDF) / grayscale, transparent, white, black or custom background, minimum output size, and optional trimmed PNG next to the full-sheet file.
  • Apply a method to individual products or to a whole product category at once.

Customer communication and proofs

See Proof approval & customer e-mails — available on all plans, including Free:

  • Communication mode per store, with a per-product override: No automatic e-mail, Design summary, Summary + edit link or Proof approval.
  • A summary e-mail with design previews and an optional Edit my design button that only changes the artwork; edits return the customer to your storefront.
  • Proof approval with Approve design and Request changes, an optional Edit it myself link, automatic reminders, optional auto-approval, revision rounds and an Approval checklist.
  • A Customer review panel on each order: send a proof or summary, remind, revise, mark approved, cancel or reopen, with internal and shared notes.
  • Shopify order tags (proof-pending, proof-approved, proof-changes-requested) for filters and Shopify Flow.
  • Editable e-mail texts per language.

Storefront integration

See Storefront setup:

  • Theme app blocks — no code edits, no script injection. Add the Design Now button block to your product template and the Customezo Cart UX embed for cart editing and previews.
  • Button styling from the theme editor: label, primary or outline style, colors, font size, radius, icon, full width, alignment and whether it opens in the same or a new tab.
  • Cart UX settings: edit-design link and its label (including a locked-state label), design preview link, advanced cart section targeting and analytics toggle.
  • Automatic theme detection — the dashboard reports whether the button and cart embed are live in your published theme, with a re-check button and a manual override for legacy Liquid templates.

Settings, account and compliance

  • Store settings — store name, designer and e-mail language, currency (synced from Shopify), designer master switch, Show prices in the designer and connected domain.
