Design Gallery: clipart and backgrounds for your customers

Upload your own clipart and backgrounds, organize them in categories, and let customers add them to their design from a Gallery panel in the designer.

The Design Gallery is your own library of clipart and background images. You upload and organize the images once in the app, and customers pick them from a Gallery panel while they design. It is available on all plans, including Free.

Use it for artwork you want customers to reuse: icons, badges, frames, patterns, seasonal backgrounds, team logos you are licensed to print.

Every image has a Type:

TypeWhat happens when a customer picks it
ClipartAdded to the design as a normal image. The customer can move, resize and rotate it.
BackgroundFills the whole print area of the current side, sits behind everything else and is locked in place.

Supported formats are PNG, JPEG, WebP and SVG. Print files always use the original file you uploaded, not the small preview.

The gallery settings live under Settings → Designer settings → Design gallery.

The page shows the platform cap for both limits. You can only set a lower value, and you can only turn options off — anything switched off by the platform stays off.

Upload images

  1. Open Design Gallery in the app menu.
  2. Press Upload images.
  3. Drop your files into the dialog, or choose them from your computer.
  4. Pick a Category for these files. Every new file gets this category. Press Apply to all files to apply it to files already in the list.
  5. Check each file in the table: Title (it starts as the file name), Type (Clipart or Background), Category, Keywords and License note.
  6. Press Upload.

Keywords help customers find things

Customers search the gallery by title and keywords. Add the words a shopper would type — heart, birthday, football — not internal codes.

Only upload images you may print

Use the License note to record where an image came from and what the licence allows. You are responsible for having the rights to print every image you offer.

Organize with categories

  • Press New category, enter a Category name, and choose a Parent category — or leave it at Top level.
  • Categories support one subcategory level: Sports → Football works, a third level does not.
  • Rename or Delete a category from the category list. When you delete a category, its images become Uncategorized. Delete or move its subcategories first.
  • Images without a category stay under Uncategorized.

Find, edit and clean up images

Filter the list by Type, Status (Active or Inactive) and keyword, and sort by Newest, Title or Most used.

Each image shows how often it is used — for example Used in 12 designs or Not used yet. Tick Unused only to find images nobody has picked.

To change many images at once, select them (or Select all on this page) and use the bulk bar:

  • Category — then Apply category.
  • Title — then Save title.
  • Save license note.
  • Keywords — Add keywords or Remove keywords.
  • Delete.

When you delete images, unused ones are removed. Images that are already used in designs are hidden instead and keep their files, so existing orders still print correctly.

The top of the page shows how many images you have uploaded. Inactive images still count toward that number.

What your customers see

When the gallery panel is on, the designer shows a Gallery button next to the other tools.

  1. The customer opens Gallery and chooses Clipart or Backgrounds.
  2. They browse by category or search by title or keyword.
  3. They tap an image to add it.

A background covers the whole print area of the side they are working on. To take it away again, they press Remove background in the Backgrounds tab.

Design Gallery and the template gallery are different things

The Design Gallery holds single images — clipart and backgrounds. The template gallery in the Templates panel holds complete, ready-made designs. See Design templates.

Gallery images go through the same DPI check as customer uploads. If an image is stretched beyond its pixel size, the designer shows the low-print-quality warning set by your print method. Upload clipart and backgrounds large enough for your biggest print area — a background has to cover the whole area at your minimum DPI.
