Bulk discounts

Reward larger orders with quantity tiers — a percentage, a fixed amount off each item, or a new unit price — shown in the designer and enforced at checkout.

Bulk discounts lower the price as the quantity grows — for example 5% off from 10 items and 15% off from 50. You set them up in a discount profile under Pricing & Discounts → Discount Profiles, and Customezo applies them automatically at checkout, so the price shown in the designer is the price the customer pays.

If your store does not use customization fees, the menu item is called Bulk Discounts instead of Pricing & Discounts.

Create a discount profile

  1. Press New Discount Profile.
  2. Enter a Profile Name — for example Standard Volume Discount — and an optional Description.
  3. Choose the Discount type.
  4. Under Discount conditions, choose the Discount scope and whether the discount also applies to customization fees.
  5. Set up your Discount Tiers.
  6. Press Create Discount Profile.
  7. On the profile page, add the products and variants it should cover, check the Preview, and make sure the profile is active.

Discount type

The Discount type decides what each tier gives the customer.

Discount typeWhat the tier setsExample
PercentageA percentage off the line.10% off from 25 items.
Fixed amount off each itemAn amount taken off every item.2.00 off each from 25 items.
New unit priceA new price per item. Each item costs 14.00 from 25 items.

A New unit price cannot be higher than the variant’s list price. If it would be, Customezo tells you which variant and does not save the profile.

Discount tiers

Each tier has a Min qty, an optional Max qty, and the value for your discount type (Discount %, Amount off each or New unit price). Leave Max qty empty for an open-ended top tier.

Min qtyMax qtyDiscount %
10245
254910
50(No limit)15
  • At least one tier is required, and you can add up to 20.
  • The highest tier the quantity qualifies for wins.
  • Each tier gets a label such as 10-24 items: 5% off. You can change it.

Different amounts per variant

Under each tier, Variant-specific amounts lists the variants this profile covers. Leave a value equal to the tier default to use the default, or enter a different value for that variant only. This is useful when larger sizes cost you more — for example 10% off for S–XL but 5% off for 3XL.

Discount scope

The scope decides how quantity is counted when matching a tier. The designer and checkout count the same way.

ScopeQuantity counted asUse it when
Per Product (default)The same product summed across all designs in the cart. The product drives your cost, whatever the artwork.
Entire CartAll designer items in the cart combined. You want to reward big baskets in general.
Per VariantEach Shopify variant on its own — S and M do not add together.Your price depends on the exact variant.

Example

A customer orders 6 shirts in size S and 6 in size M, all the same product, with a tier from 10 items. Under Per Product and Entire Cart they have 12 items and get the discount. Under Per Variant they have 6 and 6, so they do not.

Per Design is retired

Older profiles may still use Per Design, which counted each design separately. Those profiles keep working, and you can keep that setting or switch. New profiles cannot choose it.

Products and variants

After you create the profile, open it and add products under Assigned Products with Add product or Browse.

  • For each product, tick the variants that get the discount, or use Select all variants. The product shows how many are selected, for example 4 of 6 variants.
  • A variant can belong to only one discount profile. Products already assigned to another profile are not listed.
  • Only products with the designer enabled can be added.

Apply discounts to customization fees

Apply discounts to customization fees decides what the discount is taken from:

  • On — the discount also reduces the customization fees.
  • Off — only the product price is discounted. Fees stay at full price.

This works with the Percentage type only. Fixed amount off each item and New unit price never discount fees.

Preview before you save

The Preview panel shows what a customer would pay:

  1. Choose a Preview variant. Prices use the variant you select, not the first variant of the product.
  2. Enter an Example quantity.
  3. Read the List price, the price each, and You save for each tier. The tier that matches is marked This tier applies at the example quantity.

Status and checkout enforcement

A profile is either Active or Inactive. Inactive profiles keep their setup but give no discount, in the designer or at checkout.

Discounts are enforced at checkout by the Customezo Bulk Discount function. The Checkout Enforcement card shows:

  • Enabled — the function is live and applying your tiers, with the time of the last sync.
  • Pending — your changes are saved and are being sent to Shopify. If it stays pending, it is retried the next time you open the app.

Discounts do not stack on non-Plus stores

On stores that are not on Shopify Plus, Shopify applies only one product discount per cart line. If another volume-discount app also discounts the same line, the two will not add up. Test a real cart if you use other discount apps or automatic discounts.

What customers see

In the designer the order panel shows a teaser, for example Discounts from 10+ items, up to 15% off. For fixed-amount or new-price profiles it reads Bulk discounts from 10+ items. Once the quantity qualifies, a Bulk discount line and the updated total appear.

In the quantity table the discount updates as the customer types. If only some variants are discounted, the customer sees a note such as Applies to Black / XL only.

If you switched off Show prices in the designer under Settings → Store, the designer hides the teaser and discount amounts. The discount still applies in the cart and at checkout. See Pricing & fees.

Test before you announce

Add enough items to your own cart to cross a tier and check that the discount appears at checkout, not only in the designer. If it does not, see Troubleshooting.
